Life and Death

Lots of people arrive at Philosophy in the hope of finding some comfort in the face of Death and some explanation of the nature of life. There's no great certainty you'll find either here, but among the Squashed there is...

LIFE
There's Darwin on where life comes from. If you're looking for rules of how-to-live there's Epicurus, Emerson, Sartre, Cicero, Kierkegaard and, of course, Sade for the more specialist tastes.

DEATH
Do have a look at the neatly Squashed texts of traditional Religion, where you may be surprised to find how very little the Jewish Torah, the Christian Gospels and the Islamic Koran have to say about either life or death, though there is a fair bit in the Bhagavad-Gita.
You could look at Plato's Apology to see how the famous philosopher faced death, there's Ciceo on Old Age and Severinus Boethius' The Consolation of Philosophy
